3 Great Ways to Make a Long Distance Relationship Work

There is a stigma about long distance relationships that has made it hard for everyone to accept them as loving and solid relationships. I will admit that a long distance relationship is not most people’s idea of a perfect relationship, but it can still be a healthy, loving relationship. A long distance relationship is not your relationship goal, but more of a means to your goal. So, here are a couple of things that you can do to assure that your long distance relationship will work out like you want.

First off, everyone already knows that good communication is the key to any relationship, whether you are living in the same house or living on separate continents, it still holds true for all relationships. It is imperative to communicate with each other on some level, each and every day. This allows them to remember things about you as well as you to be reminded of them. Communication is not limited to just talking or texting on the phone. It can be emails, letters, tweets, Facebook messages, or smoke signals just as long as it will get the message across to them. Communication should continue on a daily basis to build a bond between you both. Of course you can miss a day every once in a while, but seriously try to avoid going too long with out communicating with one another. This allows your mind to go crazy coming up with possible scenarios.

Another key to long distance relationships is to work on having a balanced relationship with each other. I don’t believe that any relationship can have both people love/like each other equally, but it is a goal to work towards. As long as both people feel that their needs are being met, then there is nothing to worry about. Getting to know those needs is what we are going to examine next.

Asking questions about expectations and parameters of the relationship are tough questions to ask, but I assure you that doing so will help define the relationship. Asking these questions of each other will give you a chance to focus on getting to know one another instead of being bothered about boundaries and expectations of the relationship.

This leads me to another point I want to make. Asking questions is very crucial to all relationships as it has to do with communication. As I said before, communication is one of the most important elements of any relationship, and getting to know another person by asking questions is the key to communication.
